The Ordinary – The Markup Marché
Pop-up
The Ordinary wanted to deliver a traffic-stopping, high-impact activation inspired by its global Markup Marché concept, bringing the campaign to a UK audience.
Our job was to reinterpret the concept through the lens of a British market environment: recommending adaptations to the creative, logistics, and event format to suit local cultural nuances, while keeping the brand’s price positioning and core message front and centre — accessible, high-quality ingredients with nothing to hide.

Outcome
Nestled amongst the traders of Old Spitalfields Market, we delivered the UK execution of The Ordinary’s global campaign, balancing the brand’s iconic black and white tiled aesthetic with the energy of a bustling fruit and veg market.
The space combined bespoke set design, produce displays, luxury-style merchandising, and a branded checkout experience, complete with takeaway receipts breaking down the campaign concept and discount codes for future purchases.
There were gamified elements to the experience too: consumers were invited to decode marketing jargon and match it back to real everyday ingredients, emphasising the brand’s commitment to transparency in a tangible way. Guests left the experience with some extra knowledge and a complimentary bespoke fruity ice lolly in tow.
Across four live days, the activation welcomed 3,423 consumers, with every interaction designed to educate and engage over the traditional “grab-and-go” sampling approach.
Guests consistently fed back that the concept felt clever, visually impactful, and genuinely different.
And, nothing went to waste. Over 400kg of produce from the activation was donated to local charities through The Ordinary’s partnership with The Felix Project, alongside a £20,000 charitable donation.
